Aircraft systems are designed to withstand a maximum refuelling pressure of 50 psi and a maximum shock pressure of 120 psi. To ensure these limits are not exceeded hose end pressure control valves (HEPCV) are used as a primary controller and in-line pressure control valves (ILPCV) are used as secondary controllers. All refuelling vehicles pressure control system should be tested to a scheduled procedure.
Routine hydrostatic pressure testing of hoses is recommended where fuel pressure may exceed 5.5 bar.
Recommended pressures are:
- 20 bar for commissioning and after attachment of couplings
- 15 bar for routine testing of fueller delivery hoses, hydrant servicer hoses, and other hoses that may be subjected to hydrant pressure
- 10 bar for hoses of less than 2” diameter
The coupling pressure test unit has been designed to enable the above tests to be carried out. The coupling / hose pressure test unit consists of the following:
- 3” L port selection valve.
- 2 x FC107 couplings with dust caps
- 1 x 2” nipple with blanking cap.
- 1 x 3” wafer style butterfly valve with ratchet lever.
- 1 X 3” ball valve
- Valve isolated calibrated pressure gauge 0 – 20bar with trace pointer
- Capped ½” st/st ball valve for pressure relief.
- Spare ¼” bsp socket for additional diagnostics
- A” frame removable legs with fork lifting points
- Stainless steel product recovery tank (PRT) / hose pressure testing reservoir
- PRT low-point drain fitted with cam lock protection
- Hose pressure testing hydraulic hand pump
- Assorted fittings for various sizes of hose end fitting.
